What is the Sierra de Huétor Natural Park?

Designated a Natural Park in 1989, the Sierra de Huétor is one of Granada’s green lungs. It dominates the capital’s northern skyline and forms part of the ring of mountain ranges surrounding the city.

Its limestone and dolomite landforms have given rise to a karst landscape featuring lapiaz, caves, galleries, gorges and rock formations of great natural value. The presence of water is also one of its defining features. Major rivers such as the Fardes and the Darro have their source within the park, and there are springs, streams, fountains, irrigation channels and waterfalls that bring the riverside vegetation to life.

A place that the people of Granada know well, but which many visitors have yet to discover. If you’re travelling along the A-92, you’ll find it just 5 minutes from La Mora.
